Thank you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lee Alex)Sun, 01 Oct 2006 14:11:40 +0000 Re: A reply to Tamaka's posthttps://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p29,from=rss#post29https://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p29,from=rss#post29Thanks for your suggestions, Lee. I do dove magic mostly, I used the color change waist coat at the end of my usual routine few weeks ago, and I changed the color by walking behind my backdrop curtain, and it turned out ok. but I want to try different variations in the future. Thank you for your question. As to when to perform the colour change, and whether to perform the three changes immediately after one another, this is entirely down to the individual. I would suggest that this is dependent on what type of magic you perform - are you a children's entertainer, an illusionist, a manipulator, a comedy magician? A children's entertainer for example might use the waistcoat to have it change colour as a "running gag" throughout the show. It is possible of course to change the colours in almost any order before revealing the final design as the ultimate change. A manipulator may present the colour change one after the other using the umbrella as a cover. Some performers may choose to only present one colour change (ie. at the final of their program by throwing the banner up in the air). There are several suggestions in the 16 page booklet for different presentations, and these are self explanatory as to whether they should be performed one after the other or at different times in the program. As for one being stronger over the other, again I would say that this depends entirely on what exactly you wish to portray to the audience. I find neither stronger nor weaker than the other.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lee Alex)Sat, 30 Sep 2006 12:00:11 +0000 Re: A reply to Tamaka's posthttps://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p26,from=rss#post26https://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p26,from=rss#post26Do you have any suggestion on when to do the color change waist coat, at the beginning, middle or end of the routine? Or chang one color, do another magic act then change another color, and do another magic act, ect.?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Tigeroy)Sat, 30 Sep 2006 04:15:42 +0000 Re: A reply to Tamaka's posthttps://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p25,from=rss#post25https://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p25,from=rss#post25The original idea was exactly this Tamaka! When I first started using this, the waistcoat was presented in exactly the same way and all the other things came over time with development and experience, plus a little bit of imagination! If you read again my post above, I am sure the most valuable thing is the practice in the mirror. It is difficult at first NOT to look at what you are doing, and that is a big give away! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lee Alex)Sat, 30 Sep 2006 03:05:37 +0000 Re: A reply to Tamaka's posthttps://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p24,from=rss#post24https://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p24,from=rss#post24Thank you lee, I kind of thought the speed will come with practice. I'm getting great reactions, until I get the speed down, I'm dong the change as I turn around to put something in my table and when I turn back to face the audience the change has been made. Tamakanondisclosed_email@example.com (tamaka)Fri, 29 Sep 2006 21:45:00 +0000 A reply to Tamaka's posthttps://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p22,from=rss#post22https://bmagicwaistcoat.runboard.com/p22,from=rss#post22quote:Lee do you have some finer tips on doing the change? I have been having from time to time some trouble with the m****ts sticking together and pulling two colors over instead of the one that I want. I haven't gotten the speed down yet to be as smooth as what you show on your video of the product in the throwing up the silk and when it comes down the change has been made, and the lifting up of my coat. Any tips on doing the change faster? Tamaka The speed comes with practice, that is all I can really say. The change at the end of the video demo should really be performed only as the final change. This prevents any other colours from appearing - tere is no other colour to appear if you use this change as the final one. You are working in the shoulder area only, and you arms should be horizontal to the floor, and out in frontof you so that the colour has a clear run way (I am being cryptive here for obvious reasons!). The weight of the waistcoat allows the colour change to take place - inertia helps a great deal with this change. To get the speed up you can give a real forceful pull. The tricky part is to have the final colour appear in the correct place. I would suggest that you perform this in front of a mirror without the cloth. This will help in two ways: firstly you will get the speed and feel for this change; secondy this will train you to be looking forward all the time when this change happens, nstead of looking at what is actually happening. This of course should also only be performed without a jacket - with a jacket on there is no way you could get the speed in the demo video. As for taking two colours at once, again this is down to practice. "Open" as much of the first colour as possible before the change actually takes place (as described in "Off the Shoulder" in the instruction booklet for example). This then cuts down the risk of skipping a colour change. I hope this is helpful to you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lee Alex)Fri, 29 Sep 2006 20:28:32 +0000
